最初の訪問国で頭を叩かれたたと前ブログで書きました。しかし使節団首脳は賢明でした。変身したのです。不平等条約を改定するには、国力を背景にしなければ話が進まないことを理解しました。そして失意の地、アメリカを去ってイギリスに渡った際に伊藤博文が動きました。

In the previous blog, I wrote, 'They got disappointed when they began negotiating with the U.S. Government and they failed.' They understood that the treaty could not be revised until the strength of Japan was enhanced. They were all got disappointed and left America. However, the members of the delegation were cleaver enough to change them. Their next destination was Europe where Hirobumi Ito started taking action.
